Scabies is caused by a human itch mite that can infest, live, and lay eggs on the upper layer of our skin. It normally spreads when you have direct skin to skin contact with a person who has scabies. Severe itching and a pimple-like skin rash are the most common symptoms of human scabies. Scabicides can be prescribed in the form of a lotion or cream to treat and kill scabies mites. To prevent the occurrence of scabies avoid skin-to-skin contact or contact with the personal items (bedding or clothing) of individuals who have scabies.
